Post-Handover Works

Nearly a month now we've been in the house and I've been flat out getting everything happening around and inside the house after handover. Fully moved in now and still unpacking. We handed back the keys to our rental on Friday which felt fantastic but sad at the same time. 6 years we lived there and not a single rent increase.

I had all the yard down the side and back of the house excavated and graded ready for turfing. No idea when I'm going to get the turf sorted out though.



I had a deck built in the alfresco by a local guy in the estate. Just have to wait a couple of months to stain it but we actually quite like the look of the wood as it is now.



Fences and retaining walls started last week. Fence will be finished off tomorrow.



Blinds from Accent Blinds have all be installed except for one venetian in the main bedroom which was unfortunately made as the wrong size. Timber venetians in the main bedroom, blockout rollers throughout the living area, viewscreen rollers in the bedrooms and a blockout panel glide on the alfresco slider.





Finally the driveway was poured yesterday.

Appliances Installed

Painters came through today and did all the touch ups. Plumber and electrician came and installed the appliances.

Electrical Work

Had an electrician come through today and do all the downlights in the house, some pendants over the island, fan and up/down lights on the garage. He will be coming back on Monday to do the outdoor spotlights and TV antenna. He has done an absolutely fantastic job and the place looks great. Great attention to detail and professional. The appliances were delivered today to be installed tomorrow.

Handover

21 weeks of building has finally come to a close today with handover. Met the site supervisor at 8:30 this morning and went all over the house with a fine tooth comb. Everything was pretty well bang on, I had to look pretty hard to find paint blemishes. Although they're minor, and I felt like a dick for pointing out tiny spots, I am paying a lot of money for a brand new house so want it spotless. Everything I pointed out will be taken care of.

One thing I was a bit annoyed about was that a 6m long line of grout in the middle of the family room had to be removed and have silicone put in instead. I've been told it's a bit of a bitch to clean it.

NBN was installed this morning. My electrician is coming tomorrow to do all my downlights, fans and outside lights. Appliances are being installed Friday. Blinds check measure on Friday. Flyscreens next Friday. Selected a driveway just waiting for him to get back to me when he can do it. Front landscaping is provided by the developer after the driveway is done. Moving all the big stuff and living here from Saturday.

Carpet Installed

House is now complete except for being cleaned up. Carpet is Godfrey Hirst Eco+ Summertones in Blackout colour.

Main Floor Tiling Completed

Tilers smashed it all out in 3 days. Can't wait to see them cleaned.

Main Floor Tiling Started

Main floor tiles were started on Saturday. Pretty sure the guys were there very late and they got about half the house done. Very surprised to see them back at it again today (Sunday). Tiles from yesterday were grouted and the rest of the house was being laid.
